Remember: Tomorrow is first Friday, so we have Eucharistic Adoration beginning at 7:15. We moved it to the morning so that people come participate before work. We begin with the chaplet, then we expose the Eucharist and have a series of readings, and times for prayer. Come even if you can only be there for part of the time. In our parish we have a great tradition that many people come to Mass on Friday mornings. This would be a great addition to that.
Remember: After Easter, Pentecost is the most important celebration in our Liturgical Calendar. We should celebrate it with as much excitement as Easter, or Christmas. Go to Mass, but then also gather for a family dinner. Or get your neighbors together for a cook out. As Christians we should know our important feasts and celebrate them. A Challenge: This weekend is the Feast of Pentecost. We celebrate the Holy Spirit. Here are some symbols of the Holy Spirit in our Church. When you come to Church this weekend, see if you can find each of the symbols AND then know what historical event they are referring to in our Christian story. Fr. Tom will be available to help. This would be great to get your kids and grandkids involved. Remember: Many people try to wear red on Pentecost, because red is the liturgical color for the Holy Spirit. Prayer for Memorial day: O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord. When you come to Mass this weekend I would encourage you to offer your Mass for fallen soldiers. Please share to your wall. Family as the Domestic Church When you brought your child to the Church to be baptized you made a promise to raise them in the faith, both to love God and love their neighbor. This means that the first and most important place for our Children to learn to love God is in the home in the midst of the family. This means that the parents are the first and most important teacher for their children in regards to their faith in God. In a sense, they are the minister of the “Church of the Home”. It is in the home where the children will learn to pray, learn the patterns of faith, grow in virtue, and to learn to love God and neighbor. (We are putting a book together for all parents of young children in our parish. I would appreciate any comments on this. It is the Opening paragraphs)

The primary role of the Church is the sanctification of the world. Each person, if their soul is properly ordered, plays a vital role in this process of sanctification. Slowly, through grace, each Christian is sanctified and becomes a bridge between the physical and spiritual.
Today is the Feast of St. Isidore the Farmer. He spent his life working on a farm. As he worked he would pray. He was generous with sharing food with the poor. On his feast day let us pray for our farmers. Please pray with the following petitions: For people who love the land and care for it well, making farming sustainable for future generations: Lord, hear our prayer. For crop growers and livestock breeders, taking risks to grow food for a hungry world. Lord, hear our prayer. For rural and regional networks, sharing information to overcome loneliness and isolation for those on the land. Lord, hear our prayer. For strategists, planners, policy makers and advisors, offering new ways to grow food and care for the land in changing times. Lord, hear our prayer. For seasonable weather, good growth and good yields, so that there may be abundant harvests to feed hungry people, Lord, hear our prayer. For safe work practices and healthy habits for all farmers, so that people and communities may flourish and be strong, Lord, hear our prayer. For health and happiness in the home life of all farmers, and for families to work together with love, respect and harmony, Lord, hear our prayer.

A great Opportunity before work/school tomorrow (Friday): In the past on first Friday we would have a special prayer service at 3:00 with Adoration. It included the chaplet, readings, Litanies, and Benediction. Being at 3:00 we did not get many people because they were still at work or at school. Starting tomorrow, we will be doing this beginning at 7:15 a.m. before daily Mass. We are hoping that people could come and pray before work or school. Even if you can only be there for the first 15 - 20 minutes, it would be great to see people come and pray. If we are going to evangelize we need to give opportunities for people with jobs to come and pray. However, we also need to take advantage of those opportunities. Everyone is welcome. Come and pray before work. Come with your family and pray before school.
Come to Mass hungry on Sunday: Sunday morning is our famous Pancake and Porkie breakfast. I just left the kitchen where they are all peeling potatoes for homemade potato pancakes. Everyone is welcome. Bring family. Bring friends. Even if you went to church someplace else, come and eat.
The students from our school did a dramatic reading, and then the put on a play. After the play they had snacks which the kids made themselves in school. It was a great event: Great teachers, great students, great school.
A special opportunity for everyone this Sunday: Divine Mercy Sunday, Beginning at 2:30 this Sunday, April 28th, we will have a special Holy Hour for Divine Mercy. The Holy Hour will consist of Eucharistic Adoration & Benediction, an explanation of the devotion and the image, and a sung version of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy to mark the Hour of Mercy. During the time of prayer the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered by multiple priests. In this way you can personally experience God's Mercy. Holy Family Parish, 1100 W. Ryan St., Brillion, WI. It is a beautiful time of prayer, and everyone is welcome.
